Robert P. Borsody, counsel and member of Phillips Nizer's Health Law Practice, chaired "The Future of Retirement Housing in New York: Legal & Practical Issues," a December 5, 2006 program sponsored by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (ABCNY/"City Bar") and the New York State Bar Association's Health Law Section. The program was held at the ABCNY, 42 West 44th Street in New York City.
Mr. Borsody, along with a panel of state, local and health care business representatives addressed various aspects of retirement housing, independent living, adult homes, and assisted living communities, including:
- their trends and needs;
- the increase in the number of entities and facilities created to fulfill the needs;
- the impact or non-impact of regulations; and
- the costs associated with occupancy and the building of communities that serve the ever-increasing elderly population.
