George Berger, partner and member of the Litigation Department and head of the Insurance Practice at Phillips Nizer LLP, was appointed by the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division, First Judicial Department, to the Departmental Disciplinary Committee. Mr. Berger, who has been engaged in a wide-ranging civil litigation practice for over 45 years, began a three-year term on January 1, 2008. He joins an elite group entrusted to assure that the rights of clients are protected and the integrity of the legal profession is maintained. The Committee's responsibilities include the prosecution of disciplinary cases involving attorney misconduct.
Mr. Berger is a member of the American Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York ('The City Bar'). He earned his law degree from New York University School of Law in 1960, where he was Associate Managing Editor of the Law Review. He graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University in 1957.
