What's New at Phillips Nizer LLP

Trusts & Estates partner, Michael W. Galligan, and Christopher J. Kula, associate in the Corporate Law Department at Phillips Nizer LLP, both members of the International Section of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), will host the First Annual Fundamentals of International Practice program to be held at the Yale Club of New York City on Thursday, April 30, 2009.  Mr. Galligan assumed the role of chair of the International Section of the NYSBA in late January, and Mr. Kula serves as co-chair of the full-day CLE program.

The program is aimed to "attorneys who are starting their legal careers and have an interest in practicing internationally, and...more seasoned attorneys who are finding themselves involved in international practice or who would simply like to develop a broader understanding of the area."  Panelists will include notable international law practitioners.

Components of the program include:

  • The Framework of International Legal Practice
  • International Regulatory Regimes
  • Drafting an International Contract
  • Cross-Border Litigation and Dispute Resolution
  • Basics of International Taxation
  • Spotting Legal Issues When Persons Move Across Borders
  • The Ethics of International Practice

Organized by the International Section and the Committee on Continuing Legal Education of the New York State Bar Association, attendees can receive a total of 8.5 MCLE credits.  For more information regarding this program and to register before April 29, please follow this link.
