Phillips Nizer LLP Hosts Members of the International Association of Practising Lawyers (IAPL) for
the organization's 29th Annual Ordinary General Assembly
The annual meeting was held in New York City from October 8 - 10, 2010
Phillips Nizer warmly welcomed members of the International Association of Practising Lawyers (IAPL), a membership-based organization of law firms from around the world to its New York City headquarters during the group's annual general meeting.
International partners, Donald L. Kreindler, a member of the firm's Litigation Department and Fashion Practice and a member of the IAPL, and Michael W. Galligan, a member of the Trusts & Estates Department, were featured presenters during the IAPL's first official day of programming.
Mr. Kreindler's lecture, "Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards in the United States" highlighted two major multi-national treaties:
- 1959 United Nations Convention On the Regonition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (the "New York Convention"), and
- 1975 Inter-American Convention of International Commercial Arbitration (the "Panama Convention")
Mr. Galligan, joined IAPL members from Hong Kong and the United Kingdom on a panel entitled, "The Use of Trusts as a Domestic and International Tool for Wealth Protection and Wealth Transfer Planning."
