NEW YORK LAW FIRM PHILLIPS NIZER ADDS TWO ATTORNEYS TO
CORPORATE LAW DEPARTMENT
Steven H. Thal Joins as International Counsel; 
Christopher J. Kula Joins as an Associate

NEW YORK – Phillips Nizer LLP announces the addition of Steven H. Thal and Christopher J. Kula to its Corporate Law Department.  Mr. Thal joins as International Counsel concentrating his practice in international corporate and commercial transactions, advising German, Swiss, Austrian and other European multi-national corporations on U.S.-European cross-border corporate and litigation issues.  Mr. Kula joins as an associate where he will concentrate his practice in corporate and financial transactions, securities and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Thal is a visiting lecturer within the Faculty of Law at the University of Munich and the University of Heidelberg in Germany.  He is also a Trusted Attorney to the German and Swiss Consulates in New York and Austrian Trade Commission in New York.  Mr. Thal is the co-founder and general counsel to the German-American Partnership Program—the largest student exchange program between the United States and Germany.  Mr. Thal received a J.D. and B.S. in Economics from the University of Michigan.  He is admitted to practice in New York and is admitted as a foreign legal consultant in Frankfurt, Germany on matters of U.S. and international law.  Mr. Thal is a member of the International Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Council on Germany, and Der Deutsche Verein in New York.

Mr. Kula’s experience includes asset and stock purchase, commercial, mortgage and tax transactions, as well as business formations and dissolutions.  He has advised on fund related matters and has handled secondary transactions in private equity and venture capital.  Mr. Kula is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law, where he was Associate Editor of the International Law Digest.  He received a Bachelors degree from Villanova University.  Mr. Kula is a member of the New York State Bar Association and a member of the New York County Lawyers’ Association.
