RELOCATION AND EXPANSION OF NEW HACKENSACK OFFICE KEY
TO PHILLIPS NIZER CLIENT SERVICE IN NEW JERSEY
Five Attorneys Join the Litigation, Corporate & Real Estate Departments

NEW YORK – Phillips Nizer LLP announces the relocation and expansion of its Hackensack, New Jersey office to 25 Main Street, Court Plaza North in Hackensack, New Jersey, from its Essex Street location.  Edward G. Imperatore joined the firm as a Transactional and Litigation partner and will head the new office.  Joining Mr. Imperatore are Corporate partner Michael F. Logerfo, Litigation partner Robert M. Adams, Real Estate and Transactional counsel Peter J. Scandariato, and Litigation counsel Joseph M. Kennedy.  Litigation partner Helen Davis Chaitman, who previously divided her time between the Manhattan and Essex Street locations, will continue to do so at the new Main Street location.

“The combined six-attorney team will serve as the core group representing our significantly increasing number of New Jersey corporate and individual clients,” explained Perry S. Galler, the firm’s Managing Partner.  “These talented practitioners have decades of sophisticated transactional and litigation experience.  They will also have available the full resources of our New York office in all other practice areas, including Securities, Banking, Bankruptcy, Creditors’ Rights, Labor & Employment, Environmental, Insurance, Tax and Trusts & Estates.”

Edward G. Imperatore’s practice concentrates in litigation and commercial law, real estate, transportation, and labor and employment law.  Mr. Imperatore is a graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School and is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, the District Court of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court Southern and Eastern Districts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit.  He is a member of New Jersey and Bergen County Bar Associations.  Mr. Imperatore’s family owns and operates NY Waterway, which Mr. Imperatore helped to establish in 1986, as well as owning and developing properties in New Jersey and Manhattan.

Michael F. Logerfo concentrates his practice in corporate and litigation matters representing U.S. and international businesses in a variety of areas, including formation, structure, finance, transactions, and operations.  Mr. Logerfo has been instrumental in negotiating and closing transactions involving multinational corporations in the U.S. and in China, India, Japan, Europe and Latin America.  Prior to joining Phillips Nizer, Mr. Logerfo served as CEO of Flavine Holding Inc. and affiliated companies.  He is a graduate of Georgetown University's College of Arts & Sciences and Law School and is admitted to practice in New Jersey, the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, and New York.

Helen Davis Chaitman is a nationally recognized litigator with a diverse practice in areas including banking and financial institutions, bankruptcy and restructuring, lender liability, professional malpractice, New York City residency tax, RICO, trusts and estates, and white collar criminal defense.  Ms. Chaitman received her law degree from Rutgers University.  She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Courts of New York, Southern and Eastern Districts, the U.S. Court of Appeals Second and Third Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Robert M. Adams, who concentrates his practice in commercial law, litigation, real estate and contracts, is a graduate of Western New England College School of Law.  Mr. Adams is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.  He holds memberships in the New Jersey, Bergen, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations.

Peter Scandariato's practice concentrates in commercial and corporate transactions, commercial litigation, local government law, planning, zoning and land use, and real property tax appeals.  Mr. Scandariato formerly served as Bergen County Counsel.  He presently serves as Borough Attorney for the Borough of Haworth and as Planning Board Attorney for the Township of Mahwah.  Mr. Scandariato is admitted to practice in New Jersey, the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit.  He is a graduate of Seton Hall Law School. 

Joseph M. Kennedy concentrates his practice in real estate, commercial law and litigation.  He is a graduate of New York Law School and is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
