ANDREW E. GOLDSTEIN, FORMER SEC ENFORCEMENT ATTORNEY, JOINS THE CORPORATE AND SECURITIES LAW DEPARTMENTS AT PHILLIPS NIZER LLP

New York, NY – Phillips Nizer LLP is pleased to announce that Andrew E. Goldstein has joined the law firm’s New York City office as Counsel in the Corporate and Securities Law Departments.  Mr. Goldstein will continue to represent domestic and offshore investment funds, broker-dealers, investment advisors and subjects of regulatory investigations and proceedings.

A former Associate Regional Administrator with the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) New York Regional Office, Mr. Goldstein brings an extensive securities background to Phillips Nizer having represented regulated and unregulated clients in enforcement and regulatory investigations and litigation before the SEC and various self-regulatory organizations.  During his tenure at the SEC from 1975 to 1984, Mr. Goldstein oversaw the enforcement program of the New York Regional Office, litigated the SEC’s first enforcement matters involving repurchase agreements and stock loans, and initiated an SEC enforcement program in the “pink sheet” over-the-counter-market. 

Since his departure from the SEC, Mr. Goldstein has served as a solo practitioner in private practice and within corporate and securities departments in various law firms.

Mr. Goldstein is a prominent influence in the Village of East Hampton, New York, with appointments on several diverse councils.  He has served as Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of East Hampton for ten years.  He is a founding member of the East Hampton Healthcare Foundation, on the board of environmental watchdog organization, The Group of the East End, and is Chairman of The East Hampton Village Preservation Society.

Mr. Goldstein earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1975, where he was a member of the Law Review.  He earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in History from Adelphi University.  He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the American Bar Association.
