New York, NY Phillips Nizer LLP announces that Helene M. Freeman, has joined the law firm of Phillips Nizer LLP as a partner in the Litigation, Entertainment and Intellectual Property Departments. Ms. Freeman, whose illustrious career includes representing multinational record distributors, international recording artists, film and television producers, publishing companies, theatrical producers, authors and internet webcasters, is a trial and appellate counsel in precedent-setting cases under both copyright and trademark law.
As a litigator, Ms. Freemans vast experience includes Lanham (U.S. Trademark) Act, libel, breach of contract, fraud and unfair competition actions, and defense against copyright and trade dress infringements. Along with her litigation experience, Ms. Freeman will also continue to serve as intellectual property counsel on entertainment-related acquisitions.
Ms. Freeman earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New York University School of Law, and Bachelors degree from Smith College where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She is admitted to practice in New York and the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as the United States District Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Sixth and Ninth Circuits. She is also admitted to practice in the United States Court for the Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of New York. Ms. Freeman is a member of The Copyright Society of the U.S.A. and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
