Phillips Nizer was recognized in a first-of-its-kind joint efffort by Fortune magazine and Martindale-Hubbell®, as a "Top Ranked Law Firm" in the United States. Phillips Nizer is one of only 27 firms selected in New York City and one of 53 firms selected in New York State.
The over 140-year old legal resource and directory, Martindale-Hubbell ("Martindale"), provides an opportunity for attorneys profiled to be rated based on the judgment of their peers (other attorneys outside their firms) and those within the judiciary. With the release and publication of Fortune's "2012 Top Ranked Law Firms™", Phillips Nizer has achieved more than the required 33% of its attorneys rated as AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell®. Fifty-four percent of Phillips Nizer attorneys are ranked by Martindale as "AV® Preeminent™" — "...a significant rating accomplishment - a testament to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence."
Martindale Peer Review Ratings have three distinct ranks: "AV® Preeminent™", "BV® Distinguished™" and "Rated". The ranks are based on performance in five key areas, rated on a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest): (1) Legal Knowledge, (2) Analytical Capabilities, (3) Judgment, (4) Communication Ability, and (4) Legal Experience.
