Education and Bar Admission:
- J.D. required.
- New York bar admission required.
- Connecticut and/or New Jersey bar admission is not required but is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-5 years of quality experience in legal analysis, drafting, counseling, structuring of and driving simple and complex wealth transfer planning projects from start to finish strongly preferred.
- Experience required in drafting both simple and complex applications to the Surrogate’s Courts seeking various types of relief.
- Experience required in probating wills and advising fiduciaries in the administration of estates, trusts and trust equivalents required.
- Studies in estate planning, tax and experience in international estate planning and administration a plus
- Experience in the preparation of Federal and State estate tax and Federal gift tax returns a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Highly motivated self-starter.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, and assess, adapt and reprioritize projects quickly when situations change.
- Able to think strategically, analytically and creatively.
- Able to work with detailed information accurately and efficiently.
- Superior presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to be proactive in tailoring communications effectively for different audiences.
- Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, etc.) and estate and trust administration software.
- Able to support a collegial and collaborative work environment.
- Interested in establishing and developing new client relationships.
