03/25/2026Phillips Nizer is pleased to announce that Alan Behr, Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice, has been appointed to the Genericide Subcommittee of the International Trademark Association (INTA).
The Genericide Subcommittee plays a key role in monitoring and developing resources to assist brand owners in addressing the risk of genericide of their famous and well-known marks (FWKMs). The Subcommittee will continue to advance a best practices guide outlining strategies to avoid genericide, monitor relevant case law, and publish timely articles summarizing key decisions. It also reviews INTA policies related to genericide and proposes updates as appropriate.
Alan’s appointment reflects his continued leadership within INTA and his deep experience advising clients on trademark protection, brand enforcement, and intellectual property strategy both in the United States and internationally.
